About this piece

The pixiu is the guardian that takes in and does not release — a mouth and no outlet. That is the whole of the symbolism, and it is why the convention is so specific about which way it faces: toward the door or a window, at what comes in, never back at the person who put it there.

These are cast in brass by a foundry in Linyi that has been on the same listing for eight years. Brass matters beyond looks: metal drains earth in the five-element cycle, which is the mechanism behind using a metal object where the tradition asks for one. Plated zinc and resin castings are sold under the same name and photograph identically. The difference shows up in a year, when brass has gone brown and the plating has not.

We sell the small size deliberately. A pair at this scale sits on a shelf or a desk without announcing itself, and it is light enough that the air freight does not cost more than the object.

Why this object

The pixiu appears in Han-dynasty records as a guardian beast, and entered domestic use as a wealth object much later. The rule that has survived intact is the orientation one: it faces the door, the window, or the street — the direction money is understood to arrive from.

How to wear or place it

On a shelf, cabinet or desk in the wealth sector, both figures facing the door or a window.

Not facing a bed, and not facing the person sitting at the desk. Tradition is unusually consistent on this point.

Care

Dry cloth. Brass darkens with air; that patina is the material behaving normally. Polish lightly if you prefer it bright.

How we choose what we sell

Materials, stated plainly

Every listing names what it is made of. If a stone has been dyed or heat-treated, the listing says so.

Certificates you can check

Where a lab certificate exists we show it with its number, so you can verify it yourself rather than take our word.

No promises we can't keep

We explain the tradition behind each object and where it belongs. We never claim it will bring luck, health or money.

Questions

Is it natural?

The material line above states it exactly. Where we hold a lab certificate it is shown with a number you can verify, and if a stone has been treated the listing says so.

Will it bring me luck?

Honestly: no object does that by itself. Feng shui treats objects as the last step, after placement and the room itself. What this gives you is a carefully chosen object, in the right place, as a daily reminder of what you are working toward.

Where exactly should it go?

That depends on you or your home, which is what the free readings calculate. Each one shows the direction or sector, and why.

Where does it ship from, and how long does it take?

From China. We do not keep stock in a U.S. warehouse: each piece is ordered from the workshop that makes it after you order, packed in Guangdong, and flown to you. Processing takes 1–3 business days and shipping 12–20 business days, so most orders arrive 13–23 business days after they are placed. We ship to the United States only. Shipping is included in the price. U.S. import duties or taxes are not: if any are charged on delivery, the buyer pays them.

Shipping and returns?

Shipping is included in the price, so there is nothing extra to pay at checkout. If a piece arrives damaged or is not what you ordered, tell us within 14 days of delivery and we will send a replacement or refund you in full. The shipping and returns policies are linked beside the Buy button.
