WISDOM YOU CAN CHECK

See yourself. See your people.

Start with a birth date. We read it through the methods behind feng shui, the five elements and the Chinese almanac: what you are like, which directions and days work for you, and how you get along with each person in your life.

An example family, worked out from real birth dates. The number in each circle is that person's Kua number, set by birth year and sex. The word on a line describes the You Nian star between the two people, which Eight Mansions reads from their two Kua numbers.

HOW IT WORKS

From one date to a picture of you and your people.

  1. 1Your birth date

Day, month and year. One of the methods reads men and women born in the same year differently, so it also asks whether you are male or female.

  2. 2Your chart

Your element, your animal sign and your Kua number (a number set by your birth year and sex), your four best directions for a desk or a bed, and the colors that support you. Each one says what it is for.

  3. 3Your people

Add the people in your life and every pair is read: which pairs get along easily, which need more effort, and what to do about it. You can also invite someone to enter their own birth date, and it is added only if they agree.

THE TAROT

Or ask the cards.

A different tradition from the readings above: the 78-card Rider-Waite deck, each card read in plain words from the meanings A. E. Waite himself gave it. You need no birth date and no account: ask a question, shuffle, and turn the cards over.

WHY TRUST IT

Every reading names where it comes from.

Traced to the classics

Each method comes from a named classical text. The Learn section shows which, and where two of them disagree.

No scores

A number would claim a precision none of these traditions offer, so you get readings and their reasons instead.

Honest about limits

Where the details are not enough to be precise, such as a facing near a boundary or a birth hour nobody recorded, the reading says so rather than guessing.
